Passport Information

IMPORTANT: A passport is required to travel from the US into Canada

See the resources below to apply for a passport, or if you need to renew. Make sure that you verify your passport is still valid during your visit.
Passports that expire within 6 months of July 2018 are NOT considered valid (passports cannot not expire prior to February 2019, or it will need to be renewed)

Conference registration is required before delegates may reserve hotel rooms.  Room reservation link is in the registration confirmation email.
*All rooms are charged the prevailing taxes.  Currently at 5% GST, 9.975% PST,  3% City.

The conference has contracted with 4 hotels that are next to or near the convention center. Review the details below and choose the hotel that suits your needs. Note: Book at only one hotel. Names found on multiple hotel list will be reviewed and are subject to cancellation.

Limited Reservations.  Delegates may reserve up to two rooms per delegate registration.  Contact the Conference Helpline via email at or (800) 941-8840 for assistance with reservations of more than two rooms per delegate.  Reservations must be made in the name of a registered attendee.  Rooms in the group block that are not in the name of a registered attendee are subject to cancellation.

Word of Caution.  The Conference cautions all attendees to be aware of unauthorized offerings of hotel reservations from outside parties other than what is provided on this Conference website.  All other solicitations do not represent or are affiliated with the conference hotel(s), the FBINAA or the Conference.  These solicitations are often attempted to sell rooms outside of the Conference block at reduced rates and may be reservations for rooms which are not available nor are intended to be available. BUYER BEWARE.

Restricted and Prohibited Goods

IMPORTANT: the below list is not exhaustive, you are responsible for ensuring that you are not transporting prohibited goods. 

The importation of certain goods is restricted or prohibited in Canada. To avoid the possibility of penalties, including seizure or prosecution, make sure you have the information you require before attempting to import items into Canada.
The following are some examples of restricted or prohibited goods:
  • Firearms and weapons: You must declare all weapons and firearms at the CBSA port of entry when you enter Canada. Import and Export a Firearm or Weapon into Canada provides more information on importation requirements.
  • Food, plants, animals and related products: All food, plants, animals, and related products must be declared. Food can carry disease, such as E. coli. Plants and plant products can carry invasive alien species, such as the Asian Long-Horned Beetle. Animals and animal products can carry diseases, such as avian influenza and foot-and-mouth disease.  The Food, Plant and Animal Inspections section of our Web site provides more information on importation requirements.
  • Explosives, fireworks and ammunition: You must have written authorization and import permits to bring explosives, fireworks and certain types of ammunition into Canada. For more information, refer to Memorandum D19-6-1 – Administration of the Explosives Act or contact Natural Resources Canada.
